Where is Bora Bora?
Bora Bora is an island in French Polynesia.
Bora Bora is an island in French Polynesia. It is actually located in the Leeward group of the Society Islands of French Polynesia, which is French territory in the Pacific Ocean. The island is surrounded by a lagoon and a barrier reef. In the centre of the island is an extinct volcano which has two peaks.
The name Bora Bora is an incorrect rendering of the original name of the island in the Tahitian language. The actual name of the island should have been Pora Pora, meaning First Born, as there is no ‘b’ sound in the Tahitian language.
Today, Bora Bora is a major international tourist destination, famous for its aqua-centric luxury resorts, and crystal clear beaches.
