Where is Brazil?
Brazil is the largest country in South America.
Brazil, officially known as the Federative Republic of Brazil, is the biggest country by size located on the continent of South America. It the world’s fifth largest country, both by geographical area and population. Brazil is only country in the Americas that lists Portugal as its official language, also the biggest in the world.
Brazil is located on the eastern part of the continent. Its eastern boundary runs along the Atlantic Ocean. It is bordered by Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana on the north; by Colombia on the northwest; by Bolivia and Peru on the west; by Argentina and Paraguay on the southwest; and by Uruguay on the south. It actually borders all other South American countries except Ecuador and Chile.
Today, Brazil has on of the world’s fastest growing economies. It has the world's seventh largest economy by nominal GDP and the seventh largest by purchasing power parity. In addition to being a member of the BRIC Group, it is also a founding member of the United Nations, the G20, CPLP, Latin Union, the Organization of Ibero-American States, the Organization of American States, Mercosul and the Union of South American Nations.
Brazil contains up 60% of the Amazon rainforest within its boundaries, and hence is a home to a variety of wildlife, natural environments, and extensive natural resources in a variety of protected habitats.
