Darjeeling is a city located in the state of West Bengal, India.

Darjeeling is a popular tourist destination. It is unanimously described as the “Queen of Hill Stations”. It is located in the state of West Bengal in India. It covers 6,710 ft, which is located in the Mahabharata Range (Lesser Himalaya).

Darjeeling is the autonomous status in West Bengal. It was mainly set-up in the mid 19th century by the colonial British administration. Darjeeling teas are very famous all over the world. The teas are grown in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains in Northeast India. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway attaches the city with the plains and has one of the few steam engines still in service in India. The local languages which are spoken in Darjeeling are Nepali, Tibetan, Kirati, and Lepcha. However, the official languages are Nepali, Hindi and English. In the year 2011, the approximate population of Darjeeling was 132,016.

The cosmopolitan city itself has come a long way since its modest beginnings in 1835. The city includes new amenities, first class hotels, comprehensive shopping centers, the world’s most sought trekking trails, and some of India’s most famous boarding schools. In short, Darjeeling is a beautiful place with the mixture of both old and new.
