Entry into the Film Industry
In 2000, he got his debut as the leading actor in his dad’s film, Kaho na… Pyaar Hai, next to the new face in the Bollywood, Amisha Patel. The movie was a blockbuster hit and he achieved a Best Actor Award for it. It was a tremendous start for him, and his next biggest overseas hit in the market was Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. However, later on it did not turn out to be a remarkable career for him. Some of his movies flopped on the box-office like Fida, Mujhse Dosti Karogi, Main Prem Ki Dewaani Hu, etc.
In 2003, Hrithik made a comeback with a winning-success movie, Koi Mil Gaya, in which he acted as a mentally retarted person. His performance was greatly appreciated by the audience. In the coming years, he also acted in the movies as a superhero in Krrish (2006) and as a Mughal Emperor in Jodha Akbar (2008). He acted in the movie Luck by Chance (2009) as a guest appearance. Anurag Basu’s Kites with a Mexican actress was a big flop for him.
