Nearly everyone daydreams, even if they don’t know what it is called. Ever catch yourself thinking about your loved one, or an event that may or may not have happened. This is called a daydream.
A daydream is a series of pleasant thoughts that detached one from reality. While daydreaming, one is usually not paying attention to the present surroundings. When daydreaming, one usually leaves their current reality in favor for a more pleasant dream or fantasy. Hence, the term ‘daydream’. A daydream is basically a dream that one see during the day when they are awake.
A daydream usually consists of happy, pleasant thoughts and can incorporate hopes or ambitions, wishes or dreams that one hopes will come to pass. According to psychologists, all forms of daydreaming meet the criteria for mild dissociation from reality.
