Meaning of Nostalgic
Nostalgic means to long for things in the past.

Nostalgic is an adjective which defines the feeling of nostalgia. Nostalgia is a sentimental longing to experience things in the past. It is the pleasure and sadness that is caused by thinking about past experiences and wishing to relieve them. The experiences are usually related to a time period or place which brought the person comfort or happiness.

The word ‘nostalgia’ comes from a Greek compound, consisting of νόστος (nóstos), meaning "homecoming", a Homeric word, and ἄλγος (álgos), meaning "pain, ache". The word was first used by a 17th-century medical student to describe ‘the anxieties displayed by Swiss mercenaries fighting away from home.’

Smell and touch are considered to be strong contributors to the onset of nostalgia, forcing the person to remember important events, people they care about, and places where they have spent time. While, everyone feels nostalgic from time to time, especially when the times get tough, extreme cases of nostalgia can be classified as a medical condition.
