Salman Khan is a hugely popular actor belonging to the Hindi Film Industry of India, which is also known as Bollywood. Salman Khan aka Sallu, is the son of the famous screen writer Salim Khan, and his wife Sushila Charak. He is the eldest child in the family. He also has a step-mother, an actress named Helen Richardson Khan. He has four younger siblings, i.e. two brothers and two sisters, named Arbaaz, Sohail, Arpita, and Alvira respectively.
Sallu completed his schooling at St. Stanislaus High School in Bandra, Mumbai. Later, he went with his brothers to The Scindia School in Gwalior for further studies.
Entry into the Film Industry
Salman Khan has always maintained that acting came naturally to him, and that he didn’t undergo any sort of training in order to excel at it. In 1988, he made his debut as the supporting actor in the movie, Biwi Ho to Aisi. His debut as a leading actor was Sooraj R. Barjatya's romantic family drama Maine Pyar Kiya in 1989, which is also one of the highest earning Indian films of all time. He later went on to achieve the Best Male Debut Award for this film as well. With a string of successful movies like Baadhi: A Rebel for Love, Patthar Ke Phool, Sanam Bewafa and Kurbaan, Salman Khan went on to make a tremendous start to his film career.
Success in the Film Industry
Salman’s next biggest overseas hit was Hum Aapke Hain Kaun in 1994, in which he acted opposite Madhuri Dixit. The movie was a blockbuster hit and it achieved numerous awards. It is one of the films featuring on Box Office India's list of "Biggest Blockbusters Ever in Hindi Cinema". Later on, he came up with many super hits at the box office like Khamoshi: the Musical, Judwa, Auzar, Pyar Kiya to Darna Kya, Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai, Hum Saath-Saath Hai, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke and many more.
The turning point in Salman’s career was his blockbuster movie Wanted in 2009, which informally featured him as a “bad boy” in the Indian Film Industry. After that, he consecutively acted in movies like Dabangg, Bodyguard, Ready, Ek Tha Tiger and Dabangg 2, which were all a runaway success at the box office.
Salman also hosted some television programmes like 10 ka Dum and Bigg Boss 4. 10 ka Dum was tremendously liked and was at the number one spot in the television ratings of India. The Bigg Boss 4 was hosted by Salman Khan, after which he successively hosted the Bigg Boss 5, 6 and 7 seasons. In 2013, he also hosted the Star Guild Awards for the first time.

Salman has been occupied with several charities during his career. He has started an NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) called “Being Human” which sells T-shirts and other products online, and also in retail stores.
Salman is known as a 'media guy'. He is usually in controversies for some or the other reason. However, he was in the media for a hit-and-run case which is still going on, and until now, no judgment has been reached in it. The huge Black Buck hunting case and remarks about the 26/11 attacks are the other cases filed against him. He was known to be in a relationship with Aishwarya Rai. He was also in a relationship with Katrina Kaif, which ended in 2010.
